What this blog is all about
This blog is about entrepreneurship, entrepreneurs and the businesses they start. It is mostly about the smaller businesses that the vast majority of entrepreneurs start. We see very little about these in the business press; yet they constitute 90% of all businesses in Ireland. I will talk about the problems they face, and how they might be helped to overcome these problems. Above all, I want to celebrate the success of these smaller businesses.
I hope to explore what passes for, or might be held to constitute an entrepreneurship paradigm generally; to look at current thinking, as evidenced by official, academic and popular publications, in relation to entrepreneurship in Ireland and internationally, and to examine what the implications may be for the smaller business, and for those involved in providing support to them.
Most of the small businesses I intend to blog about will be unlikely to currently have a blog of their own, and, in blogging from their perspective I hope that this may in time come to be recognised as the “blog for the blogless businesses” out there!
Thanks again for keeping us up to date on what goes on in the world of entreprenuership. one of the things which impressed me most about this year’s awards was the number of technology businesses. Although I have to say that the stained glass craft business was very impressive and i hope that the young person who created the items does consider starting a business in that sector. Well done to all students who took part including all those who did not make the national final.
